Technology is changing the regional logistics industry at an accelerated rate. From artificial intelligence (AI) to blockchain, and big data to robotics, logistics players are on a constant mission to understand and implement new and developing technologies.
This must be done in the most effective and efficient ways possible, which is why Alexandra Deeva, marketing director, ALS Logistics Solutions, says consultancy is an essential part of what ALS does.
“What we are consistently trying to deliver as a message is the fact that automation will only boost the efficiency of an efficient operation,” she says, referencing the famous Bill Gates quote.
“Before investing in automation you need to understand the needs, the reasons behind that and the material flow within the warehouse. We believe in conducting the necessary research for the client to ensure that they get the best project,” Deeva adds.
“In this century of sophisticated technologies, there is a dire need for prompt action by logistics companies to understand these technologies and how they might impact their business,” says Deeva. “Then they need to implement action to get the maximum gains out of these new technologies such as 5G, IoT, digitalisation and so on.”
According to Deeva, the question isn’t whether to automate or not anymore, it’s become an essential part of any logistics operations. “People don’t want to wait even a day for their deliveries, this is where the real money is right now,” she says.
